Modern Aesthetics and Engineering Harmony: Private House Project in Dumbarton, Virginia
Architectural elegance is defined not only by appearance, but by the perfect balance of functionality and durability. Our private house project realized in Dumbarton, Virginia (USA) stands as a strong example of this balance.
At VELTAA, we aimed to combine the requirements of modern living with refined aluminum solutions, creating a seamless connection between interior spaces and the outdoors — separated by nothing more than a fine architectural line.
Defining the Architectural Character
The architectural identity of the project is shaped by two key system choices:
Slim sliding systems with a minimalist design language and turn & tilt windows offering everyday usability.
To merge aesthetics with comfort, the project includes:
Slim Sliding Systems
Designed to provide maximum transparency and uninterrupted views, enhancing the sense of openness.
Integrated Mosquito Screen Profile Finishing
High-quality surface finishes combined with integrated screens deliver both refined aesthetics and daily comfort.
Project Highlight: Lift & Sliding Door System
The standout element of this project is the Lift & Sliding Door system. With its expansive glass surfaces and minimalist profile design, the system visually brings the garden into the living space, creating a stronger sense of openness and allowing maximum natural daylight.
Key System Features
Superior Operational Comfort
Durable rollers and stainless-steel rails allow even heavy panels to move smoothly and effortlessly. The dual-track system integrates two identical glass panels, both of which can be produced as sliding units, offering full flexibility in daily use.
Advanced Insulation and Security
With Lift & Slide technology, the panel is lifted before sliding and locks firmly into place when closed. This ensures excellent wind and water tightness while providing enhanced protection against forced entry.
Minimalist Design (Slim Chicane)
With a visible interlocking profile width of only 50 mm, the slim chicane aligns perfectly with contemporary architectural trends. The sliding panel can be positioned inside or outside the glazing line and remains an ideal solution when interior glazing is limited by building structure.
Aesthetics and Function Combined
High-quality profile coatings ensure long-lasting visual durability, while integrated mosquito screen solutions maximize everyday comfort.
Technical Excellence and Performance
The systems used in the Dumbarton project deliver not only visual quality but also meet demanding technical standards:
Thermal Insulation
UF values reach 1.07 W/m²K, supporting energy efficiency and indoor comfort.
Structural Capacity
Panels can reach heights of up to 3500 mm and carry sash weights of up to 400 kg.
Air and Water Tightness
High performance even under extreme weather conditions, with resistance exceeding 2000 Pa.
Seamless Transatlantic Logistics
The success of the Dumbarton project is supported not only by product quality, but also by a carefully managed logistics operation.
All systems were custom-packaged in accordance with U.S. shipping standards and delivered safely via sea freight.
Installation-friendly design principles enabled fast and error-free on-site assembly, supporting completion within the planned project timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
How reliable are large glass systems in terms of air tightness and security?
The Lift & Slide technology is engineered for superior insulation and security. By lifting the sash before movement and locking it firmly into place when closed, the system provides high water tightness even under pressure levels exceeding 2000 Pa, while also forming an additional barrier against burglary.
Does overseas sea freight pose a risk to glass and aluminum profiles?
No. All products were prepared with protective packaging methods compliant with U.S. shipping and sea freight standards. This ensures safe transatlantic delivery and fast, reliable on-site assembly.
What is a slim chicane and why is it important in modern sliding door systems?
A slim chicane is the narrow meeting profile between sliding panels. Its reduced visible width increases glass area, enhances daylight, and creates a cleaner, more minimalist look—while still maintaining reliable sealing, smooth operation, and structural performance.
